I am on several medicines for diabetes, hypertension, and high cholesterol. How

can I lose weight safely?

Because we are physicians, we are uniquely qualified to treat all of you, not just counsel about weight. Unlike commercial weight loss programs, we can monitor bloodwork, adjust medications as needed, and collaborate with your other treating physicians. Often, medications are decreased, or even discontinued, after weight loss.

I am too busy, and too tired, to get

to a gym. Can I still lose weight?

This is very frustrating for many patients. Your initial consultation, body analysis, and bloodwork will identify any physiologic causes for the way you are feeling. You can certainly still lose weight on our program even without getting to a gym. We will be discussing alter- native ways of increasing your daily activity too. Many of our reluctant exercisers report a dramatic improvement in their energy level once they start the weight loss process. This can be very motivating. Regular exercise has many beneficial effects, and you might just change your mind and get moving!

I had a baby 6 months ago, and have been unable to lose the weight I gained with my pregnancy. Can your program help me?

Absolutely. After pregnancy, there can be hormonal factors which can interfere with weight loss and need to be evaluated. We can help you return to a healthy weight, like so many of our other successful mothers.

 

I am away from home a lot, travelling for my job. Will any of your diet plans work on the road?

Yes, there are several options for you. Many people in your situation find meal replacements most convenient. Our products are tasty, nutritious, and easily transportable. We will also teach you how to make better choices in the restaurant environment.

 

Since menopause, I have gained 20 pounds. What worked in the past is no longer working for me, and my weight just keeps going up. Help!

The hormonal changes of menopause do make weight loss more challenging, but still very achievable. Using our body composition analysis, we can tailor a program specific for your current metabolic needs. Our program will help you get the weight off, and keep it off.

I have been battling weight my whole life, and have lost the same 40 pounds many times, but always regain it. How can I find a way to not just lose the weight, but keep it off?

Many weight loss programs focus mainly on weight loss. Many patients feel that after reaching their goal, they are finished. A unique feature to our program is the emphasis on weight maintenance. Throughout your weight loss phase, we will be teaching life skills to help you keep the weight off long-term. As you enter the maintenance phase, we will continue to be there to guide and support you. Your weight issues have been a lifelong struggle, and deserve the same kind of attention that other chronic medical conditions receive. Those who participate with our active maintenance phase, utilizing periodic follow-ups, are highly successful.
